The Christmas Bazaar was held on 15th November and despite the fact that it was very poorly attended £199.63 was raised toward the village hall fund.
Thanks are due to those that helped: in particular to Mrs Joan Moore and her sister for their magnificent cake stall, they must have made at least 50 cakes between them.
The raffle will be drawn at the open evening on 9th December 1986.

I have held on to this months Sandford Link with the hope that the
Parish Council would send along some notes on this months meeting
and send their Christmas greetings to the parishioners, unfortunately
I was unable to attend as a parishioner, and therefore did not ask
if they would care to write any notes for the link, therefore none
have been forthcoming.

A break-in has occurred in the Village Hall and a television belonging to the Youth Club was stolen along with all the confectionery from their Tuck Shop, also the crisps from the Bingo cupboard.
Police belive that at least three people were involved and are thought to be in their late teens.

'The last leaves of Autumn still float beneath the trees,
Yet Christmas has almost descended upon the Earth once more.
Another page in the diary of Creation has been written;
Recording forever the same Human blend of heartbreak, happiness,
Love, anger and hope
As every passing year.
Yuletide brings with it a time of peace, so very brief,
And nations are united;
People rejoice as one,
Their children blessed with an aura of joyousness and excitement.
While the carols of many choirs can be heard, like angels before them,
Proclaiming with glory
The birth of Jesus Christ.

DOES SANDFORD-ON-THAMES STILL QUALIFY, OR IS IT BECOMING A DORMITORY SUBURB OF OXFORD?
WHAT HOLDS A VILLAGE TOGETHER?
The Church, The village Hall, The Village Newsletter.
The Newsletter you are at present reading is produced voluntarily by the Editor Mr. Boyd, and delivered to your door by further volunteers.
The church at present is waiting to hear whether or not it will have a new vicar.
The village hall was built with the help of a loan; currently there is £17,000 outstanding. This is being paid by annual installments, 50% by the Parish council (ie on your rates) 50% by the village hall committee with monies earned by fund raising. The running Costs of the hall are mostly covered by booking fees. -
More volunteers are desperately needed to promote new ideas and new enthusiasm.
If more people would get involved, even in a small way, bigger events could be held and the loan paid off, leaving more money available for village improvements, ie, more street lights, litter bins etc.
Show that you care, come to an open evening on Tuesday 9th December 1986 at 8 p.m. and meet other members of your village.
Free wine and free refreshments
Grand Christmas Raffle Draw
There is of course an alternative, the full amount of repayments
could go on the rates.

There will be no Sandford Link in January and I wish to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and all good fortune in the new year.
As you may know the Sandford Link is in no way supported or assisted by the Parish Council and only continues with the kind contributing of villagers and the advertisers, also everyone who helps distribute the Link. I thank them all for their help and support. I hope it will continue through 1987.
If you have any entries for the February link please let me have them
by January 20th my telephone number and address is on the back
page.
VILLAGE POLICE OFFICER.
In the past we have had moans about the lack of policing within the area. We have now been lucky and have been given a policeman for this area, Carl Reynolds, who has thrown himself not only into his duties as a police officer, but also into village life, some of it in his off duty time.
On behalf of the village I would like to thank Carl for the time
and interest he has shown, and we hope he will be with us for
a long time.
